Texas Longhorns fans are sounding the alarm over the team’s third-quarter woes—just six points scored in that stretch since week one. Offensive struggles are hitting a breaking point after back-to-back games without a single third-quarter tally, raising questions about strategy, execution, and consistency at DKR Stadium. With an upcoming matchup against Mississippi State, whose defense ranks near the bottom nationally in third-quarter passing yards allowed, the time is now for Texas to prove this is just a slump, not their new identity. Only six points since week one. That's all the Texas Longhorns offense has scored in the third quarter. That's embarrassing. That's unacceptable, and that needs to be changed, fixed now. What's going on, everybody? It's your main man Madison Davis. This is Longhorns Hit, your twice a day five-minute quick hit on your favorite team, the Texas Longhorns. Coming up, when and how can this third quarter drought be fixed? We're going to get into that in just a moment. So let's let's break down these stats, right? Let's let's go ahead and break down these stats. In SEC play, the Texas Longhorns have been outscored in the third quarter 31 to 3. My goodness, my goodness! That's and and you could almost argue that's that's exactly when we lose games right there, right there. It's so blatantly honest, honest and obvious, obvious. It's so blatantly obvious, and and. And to see it happen in real time there at DKR Stadium, it, it's like, what are we doing? It's like we have a brain fart. It's like we have a brain fart, right? And, and, and the Texas O has been— well, the Texas offense, let me say that. The Texas offense has been shut out in 3 straight games in the 3rd quarter, guys. The numbers get worse and worse as we go. Let's keep going. Let's keep going. We have to, we have to get through this. I know we have to get through this. So in, in, in, in those third quarters, it's almost as if in the past 3 games we've played a full 4-quarter game in the third quarters. With those stats, with the combined stats, let's read the stats. We've had 5 first downs, 120 total yards, and 3 points. In, in the past 3 games. We have played a combined— like, it feels like we played a full quarter of football in just the third quarter. That's horrible. That's bad. That is bad. You— there's no way you should only have 3 points. I don't— I don't get it. I don't— I don't— I don't get it. We are so bad in the third quarter, it doesn't make any sense. It doesn't make any sense. And I'm trying— I'm trying to put it in a way where it doesn't sound confusing. So let me just put it Plainly, in the 3rd quarter, we stink at football. We do. We can't run the football, we can't pass the football. You know, we probably can, we probably can, but we don't stick to what works, right? It's almost as if we're pressing and we just come out flat. We just come out flat. It's, it's ridiculous. I mean, fresh out of the— fresh out of the half, out of going into the 2nd half, we turn the ball over. Right? And then we get off the field really, really quick. We'll have a 3-and-out very quick and give it back to our defense. We don't do nothing with the ball. And then we expect the defense to hold up against good opponents in tough games. That is a recipe for disaster. That's a recipe for disaster. And honestly, it needs to be fixed. It needs to be fixed. And it needs to be fixed urgently with a sense of urgency. Coming up, when and how can this 3rd quarter Quarter drought be fixed? Well, how can it be fixed? You just stick to what's been working. We we I I don't I don't I don't get. Hey guys, I'm I'm sincerely dumbfounded because I am playing the game back in my head from DKR Memorial Stadium from this past Saturday against Ole Miss. I I don't get how you start flat on offense. Like that, after you after you've been on a roll the entire first half, and then here comes the third quarter. What what are we doing? What exactly what are you doing? We have turnover. We have we have turnovers that are just like huh. We we're we're doing plays that just don't even look right, and it's very predictable. That is that's the problem right there. When we come out of halftime and we have the ball on offense, we look predictable. Now, can you fix it? Yes. How? Taking what the defense gives you. Continue to do what you did in the first half. Maybe eliminating some things. Quick— I am so over the quick screen sometimes because you call it at moments, it's like, why would you call that? What are you doing? And then you see the defense is clearly predicting they're going to do this and you do it anyway. No checking out of it. No nothing, right? And and this can't be fixed this weekend, right? Wait, I feel like this is all this reminds me so much of the Florida game. But Mississippi State has allowed 681 passing yards in the in in in the third quarter this particular season. That ranks 137th out of 138th. So they're only ahead of West Virginia. You have to get it right this weekend. If you don't get it right this weekend, let me tell you something. That just might be who we are, and I'm really, really hoping that's not what it is. I hope that's not the case. I really hope that is not the case. I I I I want a stress-free football game, and this this is the weekend to do it. Can we do it? Please, can we do it? Longhorns friends, let me know down in the comments if can we just do it? How are you feeling about the third quarters? You all let me know down in the comments. It's your baby man Madison Davis.
