Texas is getting healthier, but could another week of rest help for the long-run?

Episode Summary

Texas Longhorns injury report update: key players probable for Saturday's game vs. Mississippi State, boosting chances for a strong win at home.

Episode Notes

The Texas Longhorns received a promising injury report ahead of their showdown with Mississippi State, sparking optimism for Saturday night’s game. With Trevor Goosby out after successful surgery and Richard Wesley expected back in a few weeks, the focus shifts to key contributors like Colin Simmons, Khalik Lockett, Cam Coleman, and Hollywood Smothers—all listed as probable or questionable but showing encouraging signs for their return.

Depth remains a clear strength. Players such as Lance Jackson, Umeozulu, Ian Geffrard, Kanu, the “terror twins,” Justin Cryer, and Raheem Biles give Texas more than enough firepower to compete, even if certain stars sit out. Can the Longhorns capitalize on their home field at DKR Memorial Stadium and exploit a Mississippi State squad with a backup quarterback? With resilient backups and the crowd on their side, expectations are high for a big win in Austin.

Longhorns fans, last night the injury report came out and things are looking promising and it bodes well for the Texas Longhorns going into Saturday night's game against Mississippi State. What's going on everybody? It's your main man Madison Davis. This is Longhorns Hit, your twice a day, 5-minute quick hit on your favorite team. Coming up, we have more than enough. We have more than enough and you're going to want to stay around for that topic. Now we're going to go through the injury report really quick. And we're just, we're just going to talk about our thoughts about it, right? So for Texas, who's out? Trevor Goosby, obviously, you know, he had the surgery yesterday and they said it was a successful surgery. So let's clap it up, let's clap it up for him. Uh, edge rusher, a freshman, Richard Wesley, we got some good news about him. I'll get into that just a few moments. Questionable, Colin Simmons. Now remember last week he was also questionable and then he was downgraded. No, I think he was doubtful. Yeah, I think he was. Yeah, he was, he was questioned. Yeah, he was questionable, then doubtful, and then he was out. So I mean, but it's We'll see, we'll see. I— we'll see. And probable, uh, Hollywood Smothers, Kaliq Lockett, and Cam Coleman. So that, that does bode well for us as far as Saturday night's game goes against Mississippi State. I love the probables. I love— I, I'm still keeping an eye out on Colin Simmons. Now we did get hit with some good news from, from, uh, Coach Steve Sarkisian today. He was saying how Richard Wesley He does expect Richard Wesley to play. He, he expects him to be on the field in a few weeks, and a few weeks could be 2 weeks, 3 weeks, could honestly be next week depending on how he's feeling. So we're gonna see how that, how that goes with Richard Wesley. But I, I'm excited to see what, you know, what he's going to look like on the football field because Kanu and, and even Justin Cryer, a lot of those guys were saying how they really like Richard Wesley. They love his, you know, his physical trait, right? They just want to see him put it all together and get a chance on the football field to really showcase what he can do. So I'm excited about that. Hollywood Smothers, you know, he had that shoulder injury, uh, and he was in street clothes, uh, Saturday night against Ole Miss. I'm, you know, I like it. I like it. And Cam Coleman as well. And they said he— again, if you did watch yesterday's show, um, it seems as though Hollywood Smothers and Cam Coleman, they're going to be Back, maybe possibly they're they're probable. So more most likely that means they're going to play. Knock on wood amid any setback that they have. Again, I'm knocking on wood still. Hopefully you can hear that. But Khalik Lockett, I can't wait to see what Khalik Lockett does. I've honestly, I want to see it. I want to see it. And seeing him on the injury report is kind of it's kind of sad to see constantly. But him being probable, that's totally different from what we've been seeing. Over and over and over, so can't wait to see what he brings. But all in all, this this isn't a bad this isn't a bad injury report. Honestly, I I actually like what I'm seeing. But you know, obviously you don't want to see anybody out. That's just that's just football though. You know, you're gonna have nicks and dings and people are gonna be out. But other than that, I I do I like it. I like I like it. I yeah, I like it. Colin Simmons, I I really wish he was healthy, man. I really do. But we're gonna see. You know, let's see what tonight's. Let's see what tonight's injury report will say and stay tuned for that. Turn on that post notification bell on. Make sure you like, comment, subscribe. Turn that post notification bell on so you don't miss a post. And yeah, yeah, I will have a video on that a little later. Coming up, we have more than enough. We have more than enough. Now, yes, I did just go through the injury report. Yes, I did see who was probable. Yes, I saw who was questionable. Of course, I saw who was out. For those who are probable and questionable, we have more than enough to get the job done, at least this week against Mississippi State. They have a backup quarterback, you know, they've lost their leader, right? And I, I feel like just, just off of how you handled last week against Ole Miss at home, you're going to be in DKR Memorial Stadium again this weekend with the crowd rocking. I feel like you have more than enough to get it done this week without Those particular guys without Cam Coleman, right? Without Hollywood Smothers, right? Without Colin Simmons, you, you have more than enough. Without Richard Wesley, you have more than enough to get the job done. You have Lance Jackson, you have Umeozulu, you still have Ian Geffrard, you still have Kanu. Obviously you have the terror twins and Justin Cryer and Raheem Biles, right? You still have, you still have your DB core. So there, I feel like we have more than enough to really solidify a win now. I'm just— let me knock on wood. I feel like we will win big. I'm knocking on wood again. You guys, hey, you aren't going to say you're mad at me, you're the reason, you're the reason why we lost. No, you're not going to say that this week. You're not. I'm going to continue knocking on wood. Now, I say this with Cam Coleman. You don't play Cam Coleman, you still have Emmett Mosley. You still have Ryan Wingo, right? You still have Jermaine Bishop Jr. You still have guys, right? Even even you can you can use pay attention to the last video. If you missed the last video, I'm telling you good. You all missed something good. So go ahead, go back, and then come back to this video or yesterday's video. It's one of the one of the two, one of the two. Um, but you still have Michael Terry III. He can also wide. He can line up at wide out too. You know, so it all is not lost, right? With with the guys that are probable and questionable, you can rest them this week. I feel more than confident enough and comfortable. Sorry, comfortable that we can get the job done against Mississippi State. But that's all from me. That's all from your main man Madison. Davis. I'm not gonna hold you up long. See, I told you, it's Madison Davis. This is Longhorns Hit, your twice a day, 5-minute quick hit on your favorite team, the Texas Longhorns.
