Texas Longhorns defeat Ole Miss, surge in rankings, and shine as national contenders despite key injuries. Relique Brown and Arch Manning power the win.
Texas is officially back in the national spotlight after a dominant win over the Ole Miss Rebels, surging up the rankings and staking a claim as a true contender. The Longhorns’ offense lit up the first half, with Arch Manning bouncing back from an early interception to throw a highlight-reel deep touchdown to Ryan Wingo. Relique Brown delivered a standout performance, racking up 157 rushing yards on 23 carries, while Michael Terry III and a relentless run game kept the tempo high.
Despite battling injuries to key players like Cam Coleman, Trevor Goosby, and Hollywood Smothers, Texas proved its depth by stepping up across the board. Andre Cojoe, Emmitt Mosley, and even Jermaine Bishop Jr. made pivotal plays, showcasing the talented roster’s next-man-up mentality. Can the Longhorns sustain this level, especially if they start fast and finish strong in the third quarter? The conversation focused on what makes this win particularly special, leaving fans eager for what’s next.

What makes this win even more special than what it is? Now, first half, the offense did their thing. Yes, we started off, we know what happened. The Arch Manning interception in the first half. We know it didn't look too hot. It was, he kind of threw it. He threw it inside more than he should have thrown it outside. It took years for him to throw that out route to Emmitt Mosley, but it is what it is. Our offense got on the board. Running game was impeccable, impeccable throughout the entirety of the game. It was impeccable. In the first half, our passing game was amazing. We were able to get, you know, those quick slants going. We were able, you know, to find Emmitt. We were able to find Cam Coleman. We were able to find Ryan Wingo. And those guys were able to get things going. I— that D-bomb to Ryan Wingo. Oh my God. It was— for those who don't know, right? If you're not following the socials of Longhorns Hate, I was at the game. Right? I was at the game and to see all of these things just happen, that deep, that deep ball to Ryan Wingo was amazing. Ryan, uh, um, uh, Arch Manning, I'm sorry, Arch Manning stood in the pocket, saw the pressure, delivered a dime to Ryan, and Ryan brought it down and it was a touchdown. I love— I can't lie, I enjoyed it. I enjoyed it. Relique, I, I can't say too much about him, man. I, what, what else, what else am I supposed to say about Relique Brown? Right. Relique Brown with 23 carries for 157 yards. Cooked. He cooked. He absolutely cooked. Michael Terry III stepped in for Derrek Cooper. Derrek Cooper played about 3 snaps. He had an illness. He was dealing with an illness. So Michael Terry III came on in, had him 8 carries for 41 yards and a touchdown. Had a day. Got Arch Manning involved in the run game. See, this is what I've been saying. You get Arch Manning involved in the run game. Yeah. Good things happen. Good, good things happen. He, he had 2 touchdowns on the ground, huh? He had that, he had that QB keep and then he had, he pulled it and did that, you know, that little rollout and wide open, wide open. So this, this is what I'd like to see. Uh, I like to see that. We need to keep it going. We need to keep these things rolling. We need to actually put together a 3rd quarter for goodness sakes. I mean, what's going on there? But defensively, I loved what we did on the defensive side of the football. These guys are just, they're legit. And to do what you did without certain players on your squad, Hollywood Smothers being out, it's amazing. It's amazing. But we're going to talk about what makes this win even crazier. What makes this win special, right? But first things first, we want to give a quick shout out to this hit sponsor, Kalshi. Download the Kalshi app, use promo code HIT to get $25 when you trade $25. Let me hit you with a fun fact over there on Kalshi. The Texas Longhorns are trading at 91% to defeat The Mississippi State Bulldogs. Yes, indeed. They are the Bulldogs, right? Mississippi State. So if that, you know, piques your interest, go ahead, download the Kalshi app, use promo code HIT to get $25 when you trade $25 on us. Now, what makes this, this win even crazier? You did this without your top guys. Yes, we talked about Cam Coleman early on, but Cam Coleman did get hurt, right? Yes, he had. Again, he had the drop. Can't really do anything about it. But he was, he was, able to clear guys out. Um, and on that, on that Ryan Wingo deep pass, that, that deep bomb, that touchdown, he cleared them out to give Ryan Wingo a chance, right? So he was necessary. And him being out, that did hurt. You know, Trevor Goosby going down, that hurt as well. That took the oxygen out of the stadium when we were there. It was like, it was just, it was quiet. It was so quiet. And it just sucked to see that. Hollywood Smothers being out. Saw him in a brace. He's in a, he's in a sling and he has a little, uh, a cast/brace thing going on. So I don't know what that's about, but we hope he does get well soon. Um, but this is what makes it crazy. Without those guys and Colin Simmons being out, what makes it crazy, you performed at that level without your best guys being there. You had guys step up. You had guys— Andre Cojoe, he stepped up. Relique Brown and Michael Terry III, they stepped up, right? Emmett Mosley. I mean, even Jermaine Bishop Jr. got in on the action a little bit. These guys stepped up. These guys stepped up. And this is what I was telling you all. I was telling you this roster is so talented that even I believe the backups, if they were to come in and help out, we wouldn't miss a beat. We wouldn't miss a beat. We were up 24-3. And realistically, we probably— the final score should have been like 37-13 or 38-13 or 38-14. Yeah. 12 or 30 or, uh, 14. I said 12, 30 or 14 or something like that. It shouldn't have been close. It shouldn't have been close. And for the guys that you were missing and you still were— have them up 24-3, man, if we could just put together a full game performing in the third quarter, we'll be just fine. But that's going to do it here. This is Longhorns Hit. This is your main man Madison Davis. Your twice a— your twice a day 5-minute quick hit on your favorite team, the Texas Longhorns.
