Texas Longhorns’ defense shines with Raheem Biles and Justin Cryer, dominating against Ole Miss and fueling national championship hopes.
The Texas Longhorns’ “Terror Twins” in the middle—Raheem Biles and Justin Cryer—are powering a defensive surge that just might carry Texas to the national championship. After playing every defensive snap against Ole Miss and combining for two interceptions, four QB hurries, and a host of disruptive plays, these linebackers are setting an electrifying standard for the squad’s mindset and swagger.
Defensive mastermind Will Muschamp is credited as the architect behind this ferocious unit, infusing championship mentality and demanding “boom-or-bust” energy from every defender. With Saban disciples steering the ship and future stars like Colin Simmons waiting to return from injury, is this the season Texas finally lives up to its championship potential?
Longhorns fans, the Terror Twins in the middle, Raheem Biles and Justin Cryer, will be the sole reason why this defense can propel Texas into the national championship. What's going on everybody, it's your main man Madison Davis. This is Longhorns Hit, your twice a day 5-minute quick hit on your favorite team. Coming up, it all starts with the boom. You want to stay for that topic. Without further ado, let's go ahead and get into it. Now look, On Saturday, this past Saturday, when we went against Ole Miss, Justin Cryer and Raheem Biles played every single snap, every single snap on defense for the Texas Longhorns against Ole Miss. I don't think people don't really understand how difficult that is and how conditioned you have to, to be on the field. And just let me, let me tell you the stats. 85 snaps, 85 defensive snaps. That's the entire game on defense for the Texas Longhorns. They didn't miss a snap. You need that. You need that DNA. You need that mindset on the football field. Why? Because that's contagious. It is. It's contagious throughout the locker room, especially on that defense. Hey, look, our leaders are there. They're hooping. I want some. I want some of that. I want to go get a sack. I want an interception. I want a sack strip. You know, that's what, that's what I want. I want a QB hurry. Speaking of QB hurries, Rain Biles and Justin Cryer, they had 2 interceptions. This is all combined. 2 interceptions, 4 QB hurries, a tackle for loss, and 3 pass breakups between those 2. They hooped, man. They hooped and they did it against one of, if not the best quarterback, the best quarterback in college football. I mean, man, what, what, what else? What else? There's nothing else for you to say, right? Other than those guys are dudes. And when I say those guys are dudes, they're, they are those guys. They're, they're him. Rain Biles, he's him. Justin Cryer, he's him. That's what I mean by that. These guys, they're hooping. They're hooping. Sark, he said early on in the season how Justin Cryer was taking command of this defense. And, you know, for those who don't know, Justin Cryer was over there at Florida State and then hit the transfer portal. Now he's here. Now he's in Texas balling out, right? And his presence is made known on the field and off the field. The guy, he can rally his guys. And that's what you need out of a linebacker. That's what you need out of your middle linebacker, Raheem. His ability to— he, he seems as if he can play safety too, right? And the way he can get to the quarterback, he blitzes the quarterback, and he can really confuse the quarterback, you know, because he, he— you have to take account for him. And just adding him with, you know, when Colin Simmons does get back from injury, it's gonna be nasty because these guys are taking steps. They're taking— and the way Coach Muschamp is using these guys, they're taking steps, right? So now it's like, okay, what is this going to look like when we do have a healthy Colin Simmons? Um, I'm telling you I'm telling you, this defense will be the reason. They will be the reason why this Texas Longhorns team can go to the national championship. And I, you know, I'm gonna call it. They're gonna go. They're gonna go. Yeah, I know. I know. I'm gonna knock on wood. I don't know if you heard that, but I'm knocking on wood. We're going. We're going. We have to. With this defense, we can't waste. We can't waste it. We can't waste it. So, and just add on to Raheem Biles, his energy, his energy is contagious. You know, he does the he does the shark. He does the shark joint. I love that. I love that so much. And you have the whole team doing it. It's contagious. And you need that on defense. You need to play with a swagger, right? And that's what he brings. He brings that to this defense. He does. Coming up, it all starts with the boom. The boom. I think I think some of you all knew what I was saying when I when I first said the boom. You know who I'm talking about? Coach Boom. Cus Coach Boom must champ, huh? He's a mastermind behind all of this. He he's the reason why these guys are who. And he's the reason why Raheem Biles and Justin Cryer, you know, guys like that are in Texas, you know. And Coach Sark caught a lot of flack. He had a lot of criticism for getting rid of, uh, the passing defensive coordinator, right, Coach K. And now it's like, hey, he made the right decision, man. He made the right decision. You have to think about it though. Coach Muschamp's resume is, as far as a defensive coordinator goes, tough, tough, and it's solidified. He built that mecca over there in Georgia. He built that mecca down there in the Bayou when he was with Coach Saban. He's doing it again. He's doing it. He's doing it again. And the fact that we have 2 Saban disciples in Sark and Muschamp, we have to get it done. And you know what, Coach Muschamp, last thing and I'll get out of you guys' hair, Coach Muschamp His philosophy, his mentality—it's like the whole team. They they live it; they breathe it. If you don't boom, this is what he said: You don't boom; you don't play. And you see it in Jelani McDonald, right? You you see it Raheem. You see Justin Cryer. You see it Lance. You see it in Kanu. You see it in Jafar. You see it all throughout this defense, and you need that to go win a championship—that mentality. And he and he's he has seen his share of championships. Just not as a head coach, but being a defensive coordinator and being involved in Georgia, right? Building building that defense with Jalen Carter and Jordan Davis and and and and Kelly Ringo and and down there in the bayou with with Saban. It's there, and he's trying. He's replicating it, man. He is. Stay tuned. Stay tuned. But this has been your main man. This is Madison Davis. Longhorns hit your twice a day five minute quick hit on your favorite team.
