The Texas Longhorns have lost a recruit to the Florida Gators. How ironic. What's going on everybody, it's your main man Madison Davis. This is Longhorns Hit, your twice a day 5-minute quick hit on your favorite team. Coming up, could this impact current recruits and future recruits? Only time can tell, but we must talk about that in a moment. But first, let's talk about 5-star wide receiver Easton Royal has flipped his commitment from Texas To Florida, and he's from he's from New Orleans, Louisiana. Um, really he's a really good football player, dual sport athlete. Um, he ran a 10.17 100-meter dash. So the kid can fly. He can he can definitely fly, right? But here's the thing. Here's the thing. I saw this coming, right? And and if you have been keeping up with Eastern Royal, you you you saw it too. You saw it too. So this isn't really a big surprise. Where he's going, that could be a surprise. But him, you know, flipping his commitment—it's it's it's not it's not it's not it doesn't surprise me in the slightest. You got to think it was a few weeks ago he was in the student section at LSU. So it was it was like and he's been committed to he's been committed to Texas since November of 2025, and he was just in the student section at the LSU game. If I'm not mistaken, it was for the. Ole Miss game. It was Ole Miss and LSU, if I'm not mistaken. I could be, you know, but I know he was, he was in the student section for sure, 100%. That was everywhere, right? That was everywhere. So again, it doesn't surprise me. It doesn't surprise me. Does it suck? I mean, I guess, right? I guess he's not really proven, so we don't know what he can do on the college football level, right? Because it's a different level. It's not high school anymore. So, but with that being said, you know, we do wish him the best, you know, where Over with the Florida Gators. But again, I'm going to repeat it one more time. Doesn't surprise me. Doesn't surprise me. And a lot of people suspect that he would go to LSU given that video, right? But ultimately, he ended up choosing the Florida Gators. And of course, of course. So he did end up flipping his his commitment from Texas to Florida on Sunday. Of course, I right after the game. Right after the game, and you know you might have not even paid any attention, or you just didn't see it because you were maybe enraged. You, the person watching this, you were probably enraged about the loss against the Oklahoma Sooners. It's it sucked. It sucked. It really did. And this this possibly didn't make it any better for you. But it is it's okay. We're gonna be fine. We're gonna be just fine. Could this impact future recruits and and current recruits? No, I don't think it does. I don't, I don't think this impacts them in the slightest. I believe they fully believe they're supposed to be here. Did it— now, will it grab their attention? Of course, of course. But I can guarantee you they saw the videos of Easton Royal at different— at, at, at, uh, the LSU game in the student section, clapping, cheering, having the, having the time of his life. And, you know, they saw it. I'm sure they saw it. So I, I don't think it even came to a surprise. to people within the Texas football organization, within the, you know, within the football team, right? And the recruiting team. So I don't think it's— it won't impact them. It won't impact them. And if it does impact them, that just means they didn't really want to be here as bad as they said they did. That's what it boils down to. That's exactly what it boils down to. You choose a school that you believe that you are going to thrive. You want to help them win a championship. You want to be a part of a team that's going to make history. That feels like home to you. So that shouldn't deter them, right? I don't think that deter— that doesn't deter, uh, Landon Williams-Callis, right? The running back, uh, that's supposed to be coming in next year. He's going to be good for us. Prayerfully we can just— I gotta stop thinking about next year. I just want to see our run game get started this year. But nevertheless, uh, Mr. Rhodes, right? He's going to be class of 2028. Uh, he's going to be coming here next season. No, well, season after next. I'm sorry, season after next. So yeah, it doesn't impact them. It doesn't impact them. Now what that does mean, we're gonna have to try to find somebody else that will be great opposite of Jermaine Bishop Jr. 'Cause Jermaine, he's gonna take off if we can just get him involved. We have to get him involved more. He had 1 reception for 15 yards and a touchdown against Oklahoma. And I think he can do that. That's just his game. He's a— Yeah. He gets it started on the offensive side of the football. He does. He does. And why we're not using him, I don't know. And could that have played into Easton wanting to, you know, come to Texas? Possibly. Did he, did he, could it have been that he wasn't necessarily blown away by how our passing game looks? Possibly. That's, that's, that's a, that's a possibility. It's a possibility. But just because it doesn't look like now, you don't know what it's going to look like in the future. So. Hey man, it's up to him. We wish him luck. Oh, I think our recruits will be just fine. That won't impact them whatsoever. So if you are— I saw a lot of questions about that. That's why, you know, that's why I asked that question and answered the question. I saw a lot of those questions on social media platforms. No, we'll be fine. The recruits are going to be just fine. Trust, they, they want to come here. They will be here. The writing was kind of already on the wall with Easton Royal, okay? It really was. So relax, we're gonna be just fine. Uh, but that's gonna do it for today's hit.
