Regardless of the loss against the Oklahoma Sooners, the Texas Longhorns offense did have a few bright moments and a few bright stars. We're going to get into that just a few moments. What's going on everybody, it's your main man Madison Davis. This is Longhorns Hit, your twice a day, 5-minute quick hit on your favorite team, the Texas Longhorns. Coming up, Coach Steve Sarkisian was asked about changing play callers, uh, for the offense, and his response No chance. My goodness, I can't wait to get into that one. But first, let's talk about these bright stars. They were your freshmen. Yes indeed. Jermaine Bishop Jr., if you can recall, in the 4th quarter when we needed a touchdown, Jermaine Bishop was there. He was there. Arch Manning found him, did a little, got into the end zone. That's what we need from our young guys, right? Right. Ending of the first half, Derrick Cooper was slicing and dicing through the Oklahoma Sooners defense to the point where they had to call a timeout. That hurry up, I loved it. Don't know why we didn't stick with it. I, I'll take it a step further. I don't know why we ended that drive and Derek Cooper did not have a touchdown. I, I, I don't know. I, I got— I do not understand it. I don't. But nevertheless, we're going to get into that in just a few moments. The young guys showed up, man. I, I am, I am so proud of what they did in this game. I want to see more, right? Jermaine Bishop Jr., he needs a bigger role. Ryan Wingo was going against, against, uh, Oklahoma's best corner, so he really couldn't go anywhere. That, that is why Emmitt Mosley was so involved, right? And, and since he was involved, I wanted to see more Jermaine Bishop Jr. He can open up this passing game to a different level. You have to think, this man is an athlete. Not just a wide receiver. This man is an athlete. He can do it all. He's a freshman, but he can do it all. He can. I wanted to see more. I wanted to see more. Second half of the game, he gets 2 carries. 2. 2. After having that first half, after having that— the end of that first half, he only had 2 carries, and he was begging for the ball more. He was going like this. He was going like this. Give it to me again. Give it to me again. And they stopped. They stopped. They, they did. Coming up, Steve Sarkisian was asked about changing play callers or play calling duties for the Longhorns offense, and he said no chance. That's a problem. That is a big, big problem for the Longhorns. Steve Sarkisian, I like him as a head coach. I do. I really do. As a play caller, I don't. I'm kind of over— I'm— yo, he won't change how he calls play calls, how he calls his offense. I want to go into the strengths of Archie Manning. Arch is not a pocket quarterback. Again, he is A quarterback that is reactionary. He he is he he thrives off of reaction. He likes to react, making him think that's that's gonna cause interceptions like two of them. Hey, if you don't see anything, run. Hey, if that's not open, run. That's that's that's him. Instead of making pat pat pat pat pat now granted Arch didn't know you know Arch Steve Sarkisian can't go out there and play quarterback for him. Arch does need to make better decisions. Okay, I do understand that. But when you're at your own 10 and everything is deep and you're— you got— you allowed them to get a— oh my God, a coverage sack. It's— it was tough, guys and gals. It was tough. It was tough to watch. This offense is not— it hasn't improved. It hasn't improved. If, if anything, can I be honest with you all? It's regressed. It has regressed, and I don't like it. You have all the talent in the world. You should have destroyed the Sooners. The defense was getting after it. Defense was getting after it. They were doing what they had to do. You did nothing with the— offense did nothing with the ball. They did— we did nothing with the ball. We didn't— we didn't do anything with the ball. I don't know why I keep saying they. We, we, we didn't do anything with the ball, and that frustrated me. Off rip, you went down the field. Oh my goodness, man. I don't know. I, I, I don't know. I would love to see us run the ball some more because you can do it. You can do it. You have the guys. We just abandon it quick. I'm like, why aren't we running? Why don't we get Arch Manning involved? And Arch Manning is almost like Dak Prescott. If he gets involved in the game on the run, he's lights out. He's lights out. We're not doing it. So I do have a problem with that. I, I do have a problem. I, I think there needs to be an offensive coordinator change. I do, I do. That's going to be all from your main man Madison Davis. This is the Longhorns Hit, your twice a day, 5-minute quick hit on your favorite team, the Texas Longhorns. And it's forever Hook 'Em, okay? It's forever Hook 'Em. We, we're not going to give up. We still have, um, a game this week, the Florida Gators. So we'll be tuned in for that. And be tuned in for the next episode, the next hit. Hook 'Em!
