Unfortunately, Longhorns fam, football comes with injuries, and I do have some injury news. But don't be quite somber. Things will be all right. Derek Cooper, the freshman running back, uh, he, uh, ended up hurting his ankle against Texas State, and Coach Steve Sarkisian did let us know he's going to be out for the foreseeable future. Um, and he did bring up a, a, you know, um, some fresh legs. And you're going to need fresh legs, especially in the 4th quarter and going through the back half of the schedule. You're going to need fresh legs. I understand we do have Relique Brown and Hollywood Smothers, but that 3rd running back, uh, in Derrick Cooper, uh, would have helped us out a lot. But now he will be out for a good while. If I'm not mistaken, it's, it's, it's dealing with that ankle. I do remember, um, watching the play where he did end up getting hurt and it didn't look good. I remember he got up and he was limping off. So it's, it's going to be for a little while before he gets back. Cooper did arrive with some real juice as a high upside freshman. Again, I told you he was gonna provide some fresh legs for us in the backfield with that already dynamic duo in Hollywood and Relique, right? And, but an ankle injury keeps him in a boot for the foreseeable future. Like Coach Steve Sarkisian had said. Another injury, uh, that would be Nick Townsend. He hurt his knee, he tweaked it against Ohio State, uh, and, and that, that's— he was blocking his tail off. I can't lie, he was blocking his tail off. But thankfully, Amari Winston, he came in and he, he showed up and showed out and did whatever was required of him to get that W against Ohio State. Now, all is not lost, okay? All is not lost. Um, but I just don't like talking about injuries. Of course it sucks, but unfortunately it is a part of the game. It's going to come with nicks and dings. I remember my, my high school coach said, you know, it's going to come with nicks and dings, but it is what it is. You can control what you can, um, control. Now, you know, we used to use— we were using— I'm not gonna say used to because Nick, he's gonna be back. Nick's going to be back. We were using him as a tight end slash H-back role with tactical shifts and things of that nature. So I think, yeah, I think he's going to have about 2 weeks to really recover because remember we do play Tennessee next week. Oh, actually this week. And then, well, we play the Roadrunners this week and then we play Tennessee and then we're going to have that bye week. So hopefully that gives him enough rest. So when we hit the ground running, Um, fresh out of the bye week and we play, um, that team over in Oklahoma. Yeah, but, um, first things first though, um, despite the injuries, we still are the Texas Longhorns. And the Texas Longhorns over on Calci, we are favored, uh, to win the national championship this season. We're favored at about 13%. Notre Dame is also in that game with us, uh, they're favored at 12%. With that 13%, Uh, you could, um, you could put $100 and that trade would pay out to $631 if they win the national championship this season. And I think that's a great bet. I think, I think we, I think we have enough to get it done. We have enough to get it done. Now, um, do me a favor and do yourself a favor. All is not lost. We're going to be just fine, right? We're going to be just fine. The Ohio State game, it proved it, right? Relique and Hollywood, we're going to be fine. Imari, we are going to be just fine. They established themselves. They let us know, hey, we got it. We're going to be just fine. All we're going to have to do now, we're just going to have to stay healthy and really just get to the bye week so we can really recuperate and refresh ourselves, revitalize ourselves so we can be ready for the second half of this grueling schedule, and we have to run through this SEC gauntlet. I'm excited. Don't worry, we're gonna be just fine. Uh, prayers up to Derek, uh, and prayers up to Nick. They're going to be just fine. We are— again, we're the Longhorns, we're number one in the nation. We, we will be just fine. We are who we say we are. Uh, we are just going to send up some prayers, our thoughts and prayers, uh, and good energy to them.
