Chapters:
I 100% disagree with Coach Steve Sarkisian's comments, these comments that he made about the defense. What's going on everybody? It's your main man Madison Davis. This is Longhorns Hit, your twice a day, 5-minute quick hit on your favorite team, the Texas Longhorns. And coming up, I do agree with him on these particular statements about the offensive line. Now, Coach Steve Sarkisian on Texas Football, shout out to those guys over there at On Texas Football. He stated this. He stated that the Texas defense needs to finish better, force more turnovers, and play full four quarters. I disagree. I disagree. I if if he's saying they need to finish better, I don't know what else you want from them. I really don't. Do they need to play full? I mean, obviously they need to play full four quarters. I mean, I believe they've been doing that. I believe they've been handicapped by the offense. That's what I believe. I I think this blame is going towards the wrong unit. I think, I think some of this blame needs to go towards the offense and the special teams. You have to think, this defense only gave up one touchdown the entire game, and that was to Lloyd Avant, the Oklahoma running back. That's it. What more do you want from them when their offense is stagnant, when their offense isn't doing anything for the entire game? What more do you want from them? One more. They, they, they held it down in the Tennessee game. Yes, did they allow that last touchdown? Yeah, they were playing vanilla defense. That, that's what happened. All in all, they did their thing. Your defense has carried you this entire, this entire season. Literally, it could have got bad against Ohio State, real bad, but they kept you in the game. And somehow, some way, we capitalized and the offense capitalized and we found a way to win the game. I, I just— I mean, what, what more do you want from these guys? Did they have boneheaded penalties? Yes, especially that one with Raheem Biles, which wasn't even a penalty. It should have been a penalty. What more do they want from him? He was already in the act of tackling the man. Like, what do you want from this defense, man? You want— you, you want them to get turnovers but just for this offense to do nothing with the football? That makes no sense. It doesn't make— it makes, it makes no sense how the best unit on your team is performing at an all-time level, at a historic level, and you want more from them. I get— I understand if you were trying to push them to be, oh, you, you have another ceiling, you can do this, you can do that. I understand that. This sounds more like I'm blaming this defense. I, I don't get it. I just don't. I, I don't, I don't even get how you even come to that conclusion. Your offense needs to do better. How about we get out of our own, our own territory? How about we handle our own business? How about we get past the 50 and actually get into the end zone? How about we stick with the run when we're, when we're at the goal line instead of throwing a fade ball to Cam Coleman? I'm sorry, I'm sorry. Coming up, coming up, uh, the interior O-line struggles and how I agree with Coach Steve Sarkisian on his particular statement. Now, he was asked about the interior offensive line and the potential of other players to earn that playing time, you know, outside of the starting group, outside of the starting offensive line group. And he was saying how those guys, those other guys need to practice better if they want to play. I agree. You, you practice better, you earn your coach's respect, you You play the game. You don't, you won't get in. I agree. I agree wholeheartedly. I really do. And he was also asked about Arch Manning's 12, how, you know, he's been sacked 12 times and what kind of goes into it. He said there's layers to it. There's layers to it. Arch not scrambling, but he particularly said it was a lot of O-line play. The O-line blocking just wasn't showing up, specifically in the interior. I am very worried about Robertson. I am. I'm really worried about our center. I am. I like Connor Robertson. I really do. I'm worried. I really am. I'm seeing him get— granted, he's been playing pretty, really good defenses, but you're going to be playing really good defenses in the playoffs. Yeah. If you get there, you're going to be playing really—you're going to be playing really good defenses when you—if you want to win a championship, you need to expect to play great defenses. And if he's allowing that against these guys, hey man, this is this is weak. Whoa, right? Like we need to talk about this. This is troubling. How do you expect to win a championship if I mean come on, man. Come on. So I— he's not wrong, and the interior O-line play does scare me, specifically our center. I want to know what's going on with Cole Hutson. I don't know if he's— if he's— I heard he got some reps with the ones last week, but I'm— I haven't really heard anything after that and during the bye week as well. So we have to hear some more about that. I agree with him on that aspect, but that defense— that defensive statement was not it. Not it. I disagree wholeheartedly. I really do. Now, the players can't take that as disrespect and even perform at a great Greater capacity, that would be absolutely insane. All right, we do get reinforcements. If you want to know about those reinforcements, go ahead and listen to the previous hit that I posted right before this one that you're listening to right now. But without further ado, this is your main man Madison Davis. This is Long Horse Hit. You can catch us twice a day, 5 minutes, for your daily quick hit, um, on your Texas Longhorns. I will catch you all in the next hit. Hook 'em!
