Justus Terry returns to the Texas Longhorns defense; injury updates, SEC opponent analysis, and Arch Manning's growth highlight this week's report.
This player is back for the Texas Longhorns and it changes everything. What's going on everybody, it's your main man Madison Davis. This is Longhorns Hit, your twice a day 5-minute quick hit on your favorite team. And coming up, Coach Steve Sarkisian had some comments today regarding Arch Manning and the team. Without further ado, let's go ahead and get into this injury report. It came out last night around 7:10 Central Time, um, 8:10, um, Eastern Standard Time. So for the Texas Longhorns, with Justus Terry is back He's back on that defensive line. He's in that rotation with, with January and Jeffrard and Kanu and all those guys, right? That makes this defense scarier. Makes it scarier. I don't know if y'all remember, but let's go back to last season, right? When we played the Tex— when we played Texas A&M, he had, he had an incredible play that resulted in an interception and that got us the ball back ultimately. We got the dub, but this is, this is great. This is great. Um, Jordan Coleman, he's questionable, so those— that's an upgrade. Both of those guys are upgraded, um, from last week, and I had a feeling that these guys will get upgraded, especially Justice. I knew Justice would either play last week or he was definitely gonna play this week, and he was practicing last week, but it seems like he's 100% back this week. Kaliq Lockett, he's still doubtful, and Jaydon, uh, Chatman, he's out. He's out. That's— I think he was— no, I think he was on the injury report last week too. Yeah, I think he was on the injury report last week. Um, but for the Florida Gators, there's one notable name that is jumping off that really impacts the Florida Gators and the Texas Longhorns. Duke Clark, uh, their backup run— backup, backup, because it's really with him, with Jayden and him, they are like running back 1 and running back 1B, right? right, for the Florida Gators. He's out. He's out. So he will not be playing this Saturday, which impacts their running game, uh, and which helps the Texas Longhorns out defensively in a major way. In a major way. And it does also look like Aaron Filo may not play. Uh, it looks like he, he may be out. So they're gonna, they're gonna give their backup Tramel Jones, if I'm not mistaken, Tramel Jones, he's gonna be stepping in for Aaron Filo in the event that Aaron Filo cannot play. And it does seem like he's Not gonna be able to play. That's, that's what it— that's, that's exactly what I'm hearing as of right now. So that is the injury report. Justus Terry, it is great to have that man back on this defensive line. And it's not like the defensive line— it's not like it's like, oh my God, we need him back, we need him back. But in a way it's like, yeah, yeah, this solidifies our defensive line as one of, if not the best in the nation. It does, it does. And you already have— you, you already— oh, and, and, uh, Marod Watson, right? Marod is one of the best, uh, productive pass rushers in the entire SEC. I think he's, he's, I think he's second. I think he's second. He's either first or he's second. So this adds to an already deep defensive line, and this guy, Justus, Justus Terry, he's, he's gonna do his thing, man. And it's going to be scary for opposing offenses to have to go against this front, this front 7, really this front 7. It's going to be crazy. It's gonna be crazy. I'm looking forward to it. Coming up, Coach Steve Sarkisian did have some comments about Arch Manning and the team. He, he said Wednesday's practice Where he said Wednesday's practice was the best that they've practiced in a while. I think he said the entire season. He said the entire— yeah, he said the season. This is the best practice they had all season. Um, and I know some of you are probably like, man, I'm tired of hearing about practice. I'm tired. I'm tired. But however you do in practice carries over to the game. We have to remember that. Must remember that. So this is, this is good. You know, it's a step in the right direction. Hopefully this trans— you know, this, this transfers to Saturday, because we've been hearing about Arch Manning having these great practices during, during the week, and then come Saturday, it's not, it's not the same, right? It's not the same. So hopefully this does, this does, you know, translate to Saturday. We're going to need it to. We're going to need it to. And not just Saturday, we're going to need this to translate for the entire season, for the rest of the season, because you have a gauntlet. You do. For the rest of this schedule is not, is, is not cakework. That you are in the SEC, right? So every, every Saturday is going to be war. Gonna have to come with your best. Uh-oh, Coach Sarkisian also added that he would love to see Arch Manning run a lot more. I agree. A little more, I'm sorry, but he wants to see him run a little more. I do too. I do too. And he added that the Texas Longhorns offense is better— they're at their best when Arch Manning is running the football. I, I couldn't agree more. I've been saying this for the past, what, 3 weeks? I've been saying this. If you incorporate this man in the run game, there's, there's no ceiling. There's no— there's like, it's limitless. It's limitless for this offense, but he hasn't run it. And him saying that is almost as if Arch is choosing not to run. And it's not necessarily Sarkisian. I don't know. I don't know. I have— I even have more questions after he said that because I do remember specifically he called, he called an RPO for Arch Manning and it looks like Arch, you should have ran. Yeah. And then the very next play, Sark calls a QB keeper, then he runs it to the outside. So I don't know, I don't know. It seems like Arch is choosing not to run. I don't know, I don't know. We're not going to get in any controversy today, but that is going to do it for today's hit. Make sure you like, comment, subscribe, turn that post notification bell on so you know when we post.
