Texas Longhorns beat Mississippi State 31-3 with a dominant defense, despite offensive struggles and injuries. Key players and future updates discussed.
Texas Longhorns fans have every reason to believe—after dominating the Mississippi State Bulldogs 31-3, the Longhorns’ defense is proving to be a real force in college football. Could this unit be championship-caliber? Raheem Biles stepped up with 8 tackles and 2 forced fumbles, even while playing with a heavy heart, while Marod Watson secured a big-man touchdown, igniting speculation about the team’s upside, especially with Colin Simmons inching closer to a return.
Yet questions linger about the offense, particularly after inconsistent showings and ongoing struggles with the offensive line that left Arch feeling the pressure—despite managing three touchdowns on an efficient 16-of-22 passing. Special teams added excitement but were denied a touchdown by a penalty, and key injuries left fans wondering about the lineup’s depth as the season heats up. With back-to-back wins and Missouri up next, is Texas stacking enough momentum for a College Football Playoff run?

Coming up, this defense is for real. This defense is for real. Without further ado, let's go ahead and get into this thing. Now, everything is still on the table. Everything is still in front of us. We're 6-2, you know, 3-2 in the conference. I actually liked what I saw. I did. I loved what I saw from the Texas Longhorns for the most part, especially on the defensive side of the football. But let's talk offensively first. Offensively, we're still up and down. We're still very much so up and down. I wanted to see, you know, a duplicate performance from last week to this week, especially in the run game. But offensive line is not doing their thing, honestly. They struggled. They struggled a lot. Arch was pressured a lot, but Arch still had 3 touchdowns. I think he went 16 for 22, I believe. So statistically, he did really well. He did really well. He was just pressured a lot and offensive line continuously. That's, that still is my worry. But nevertheless, we put up 31 and that was thanks to the defense as well. Rob Watson got him a, got him a big boy touchdown. Have you, have you noticed something? Every time a big man gets their opportunity, they haul. Them dudes are gone. It's like they, they are, they put picking them up and put them down. They are gone. So I love what I saw out of the defense today. Offensively again, you actually hold up special teams actually had a touchdown too, but we got a block in the back for whatever. But I again special teams they did, they did okay. They did okay. I've been hard on them for the past what few weeks? But yeah, offensively I I still worry about this offense a lot. I worry about this offense a lot, and we'll. As the week goes on, we'll talk more about some updates, some key updates, especially, um, with injuries. Because if you were watching, you saw we did not have everybody in. It was certain guys leaving and they never came back. And I was like, wait, where's Brian Wingo? Where's Cam Coleman? Where's Graceson Littleton? Where, where are these guys at? Where's Hollywood Smothers? And they, they panned to Hollywood Smothers, um, being carried off the field. So yeah, we— this— yeah, yeah. But this, this win— stacking wins is all it's about. And I told you guys on Friday, I told you all, it's all about stacking wins. You have to stack wins. Great teams back wins. So here we are, that's 2 wins in a row. We need to continue this and we will see if we do continue this. Coming up, we have to talk about this defense. You see, I've been trying to get to talk about this defense a lot more, but we're gonna talk about it, we're gonna talk about it. But first things first, this hit is sponsored by 5-Hour Energy. Go ahead, tap in with those great folks over there at 5-Hour Energy. Caramel Apple, my God, is it good. Now let's talk about this defense. I wanna— let's, let's talk about my guy Raheem Biles. That man had like 8 tackles. 2 forced fumbles. He, he was, he was doing it on a heavy heart too. He lost his uncle. So, you know, prayers, uh, up for, you know, the Biles family. Check this out. Check this out. These guys, these guys, they just keep getting better and better and better week by week by week. And they were already good. And remember what I told you all. I, I told you when Colin missed his first game. I was like, I want to see what Will Muschamp is going to do with Raheem Biles. I, I want to know if he's going to move him around because Raheem can do that. He's going to do that. After the press conference, well, the postgame press conference, they asked him, you know, Raheem, you know, what do you think about your role in this defense? And he said, I went up to Will Muschamp and I told him, move me around. I, I can, I can do this. Will Muschamp said, I got you. And now Raheem is just one of the best defenders, one of the best linebackers in college football. Right now, right now. And this is what's scary, they're— you're doing this without Colin Simmons. And Colin Simmons was actually seen warming up a little bit, moving around. He had, you know, his ankles were taped, of course, but he was moving around before the game. So he might play next weekend. He just might. If it's not this, if it's not next weekend against, um, Missouri, it'll be against LSU. So I love what they did. Marod Watson got him a big man touchdown. Oh my God, bro. And that was caused by Raheem. Yeah. He was doing his thing. Justin Cryer was doing it. These guys are moving. These guys are getting after the football. I love to see it, but they have a championship caliber defense. We need this offense to match their intensity. We need our offense to match our defense's intensity. We do. And, and their consistency as well. But that's going to be all from this hit. Look forward to the next hit where we're going to talk more about these Texas Longhorns. I will catch you all in the next hit. Remember, this is your main man Madison Davis. This is Longhorns Hit. Hook 'em.
