Episode Transcription

The Texas Longhorns are officially ranked number 1 in the country after that 20-point 4th quarter comeback against the Ohio State Buckeyes last Saturday. Also, Arch Manning put on a Heisman-worthy performance in that 4th quarter to seal the deal, but Steve Sarkisian knows things are just getting started. We also have some breaking news and some off-the-field distractions coming up here in just a few moments. And later on in the show, we're going to talk about how the Longhorns can fix their on-the-field play to get ready for this SEC gauntlet. This is Madison Davis, and you are now locked in with the Locked On Longhorns hit podcast with the Locked On Podcast Network. I'm so excited you decided to come here and listen. You can find us here for your daily Longhorn content, twice a day, daily, right here, right here. You don't have to look anywhere else, right here. Your boy's got you. Your boy Madison has got you. We are sponsored, uh, by Calci. Download the Calci app and use code HIT to get $25 when you trade $25. We're about to go ahead and get this going. Now, as I've stated, the Longhorns are ranked number one in the country, and what comes with being number one in the country? There's a target on your back. They want what you have, so you can't get comfortable by any means. And Steve Sarkisian knows this. He every video I've actually seen this week of Steve Sarkisian. He's been very even-keeled. He's been, he's been focused. He's been locked in. And I believe the locker room, uh, they're going to adopt that mentality also. I think he's been preaching that. He's trying to instill that into the locker room. And I believe, I trust, I trust Steve Sarkisian that he, uh, he has instilled that into the guys. Now, off the field, uh, there, there was an arrest. Uh, co-defensive coordinator slash linebackers coach Johnny Nansen. Yeah, he, he's been dealt a misdemeanor DWI. I charge heading into the game. Um, and, and that's not really ideal. That's something that you don't want to happen. And, and like I stated, this— teams like to use this type of things against, you know, the players while they're talking trash and things like that on, on the field. So you just have to rally around, um, you know, just staying committed to the common goal, and that's to win the national championship. Uh, Steve Sarkisian didn't really go into detail, uh, but he's very locked in. He said he's— they're going to handle that in-house. So. There is that, and I love the focus of Steve Sarkisian. He knows that you can't you can't afford to drop these type of games that's coming up against UTSA. You can't, you can't. And since you're the number one team in the country, different ones are expecting you to just dominate, win by 45. You know, these are these are the type of teams that you should do that because you're ranked number one. But first things first, we are sponsored by Calci. And did you know over there on Cowshie, Texas is favored to win the national championship? Yes, yes indeed. They're favored at 13%. Uh, they're trading at 13%, meaning a $100 trade, uh, pays out to $631 if the Texas Longhorns win the national championship. And you know what? I feel good about those odds. I really do feel good about those odds. And I believe the Notre Dame uh, Fighting Irish. They are also, um, predicted to be in that game too. Texas versus Notre Dame, oh my God, that would be cinema. But that 13%, uh, if you trade $100, uh, that payout would be $631 if we win the national championship. So go ahead, go on to Kalshi, use code HIT to get $25 when you trade $25. That's Kalshi, K-A-L- S-H-I, Kaushi. Trade on anything. Some breaking news, some breaking news. So remember yesterday, right? I was talking about Derek Cooper and Townsend, right? Well, Derek Cooper, according to Steve Sarkisian, he is available versus the UTSA Roadrunners. I'm excited. I'm excited. This adds some good depth to our running back room. That means Smothers, Hollywood Smothers, and Relique Brown won't necessarily have to carry the load. Um, as much. And Derrick Cooper can also, uh, take some of that weight off of them. And that is what you need, especially in January when you have to dominate the run game. And Derrick Cooper, he's gonna, he's gonna be really good. Remember, he's, he's still a freshman. He's still a freshman, but he's going to be really, really good. I feel like he's going to play a major role in, especially in the playoffs. Prayerfully, you know, I feel like we're gonna make the playoffs. Let's knock on wood. I hope you heard that. I knocked on wood. In the playoffs. In the playoffs. I think this is, this is major. He's coming off that high ankle sprain. He's coming off the ankle sprain. So I'm just glad he's able to come back and help us out. Um, you don't want to, you know, you don't want to just overwork him right now. Um, you know, let, let's get our running game started with Reek, um, Relique Brown and, and Hollywood Smothers. And then we could just add him in there for a little bit to get him back on his feet. Then when it's time to go, he can just fit right on in. We're playing teams like Tennessee, LSU, Ole Miss, and other SEC teams and other high-profile teams. Lastly, let's get into how we can fix this on-the-field play before we take on this SEC gauntlet. This won't take long, I promise. But the Manning and wide receiver connection, we saw it kind of, it didn't look too hot against Ohio State in the beginning, but they did rally in the 4th quarter. and putting us in key positions to score. We saw some drops, you know, from Wingo and from Cam Coleman, but we need to get that cleaned up. We need to make sure we clean that up because it will be exposed in big games and we can't afford that. We're ranked number 1. Teams expect to be, they expect to see a number 1 performance. Lastly, Collin Simmons and the defensive front 4, they need to start finishing play drives and get off the field on 3rd down. We need to get off the field because if we don't, we, we're going to be on the field way too long. You don't want that. You don't want that. Offense gets cold, uh, whatever momentum they had. You want to get off the field so we can get our, uh, offense the ball back and we can go score and get money, get money, get money. Um, and, and lastly, we just need to stay focused. Stay focused. Don't worry about the outside noise. Yes, we're ranked number 1 in the country, but we need to stay locked in at all times. It's your main man Madison, uh, back again with the Locked On Longhorns hit podcast with the Locked On Podcast Network. You can find us here twice a day. So glad you decided to tap in with us, but that's been my time, and I hope you enjoyed yours. Hook 'em!
